One of the most bright events in the field of the beauty industry took place in St-Petersburg. It lasted for four days, during which the city

International Beauty Expo was accommodated on three levels of St-Petersburg Sport and Concert Complex (SCC), having an area of 15,000 m². More than 350 companies, representing most leading brands of cosmetology, nail design, hair-styling, and presenting their most up-to-date developments, took part in the event. The exhibitors in the sector of cosmetologists and massage technologies specialists were especially noted. It is a well known fact that beauty is closely connected with one’s health, that is why more and more attention is being paid to this branch. This year nail industry was also represented on a grand scale: there took place master classes of different nail-design schools, and leading companies demonstrated their most recent developments.

For the first time within the framework of Nevskie Berega International Beauty Expo there was presented a special programme, delivered by famous stylists from Sassoon Academy, London, including Edward Darley, UK Color Director and Danielle Harvey, Senior Creative Director.

Throughout these four days visitors could also enjoy mastery of technique, displayed by stylists. Edward and Danielle were impressed by the scope of the festival and high professionalism of our masters, so they plan to come back to St Petersburg with a special programme to attend Nevskie Berega on February 19-23, 2010

 
The agenda of the events for specialists, working in different branches of the beauty industry, managed to attract a really huge number of them, and we may witness some steady interest in training programmes that professionals inevitably take. The events of the Festival’s agenda embraced all beauty-salon trends and branches, having paid attention to different aspects of beauty-salon business development and raising the level of masters’ and managers’ skills.

A number of educational programmes for cosmetologists and aesthetists also took place, including forums for SPA-massage specialists, for cosmetologists and for podologists that had a big success with representatives of these professions. More than 100 cosmetologists from all Russia gathered on September 12 in the conference hall of Bourjois press-centre. The topic was “Peelings from A to Z: All Truth about Them”, which proved to be of great and urgent importance, the lecture being delivered by Natalia Anatolievna Polonskaya, DMS, Assistant Professor of Skin & Venereal Diseases and Clinical Mycology Department of Russian State University’s Faculty of Doctors Advanced Training, Head Physician of Optimed Aesthenic Medicine Corporation. During the work of the Forum some important aspects of theory and practices concerning this most demanded procedure of any beauty salon were revealed and discussed.

Image esthetics is becoming more and more important nowadays, and that explains why such events as Visagiste Day, Nail&Spa Show, and the Forum of Hairdresser’s’ and Beauty Salons’ Specialists were booked up long beforehand. Guests of the events mentioned later in their interviews a really high level of workshops and master-classes and expressed their desire to take part in training and educational programmes of the Festival on a regular base.

 
Main partners and organizers of the thematic presentations and exhibitions were such organisations as Sergeyev, Kayumov and Partners, NailSpa magazine, Optimed Aesthenic Medicine Corporation, and Stylist-Profi Company.

Within the framework of the Festival there also took place a Championship for the Hardware Pedicure Cup of St-Petersburg, known as Foot-Profi - 2009, organized by Plastek Company. The event is traditionally participated in by guests from different cities of Russia. Training at pre-contest coachings helped masters to feel there more at ease, for criteria of the mark at these competitions are very distinct and exact; that is why they need some special preparation in advance. The final giving-awards ceremony took place at the stage of the SCC, where all winners got their deserved cups, medals and other prizes. The winners were:

The 1st St-Petersburg Open SPA-Massage Championship became another significant event of the Festival. It manifested some kind of magic attraction, which made its guests spend many hours in the auditorium. The winners were:

The 5th Open Independent Hairdressing, Decorative Cosmetics and Nail-Design Cup of Russia Championship was attracting attention of the whole world to the main catwalk of the SCC for four days. In the contest more than 250,000 participants took place; they had arrived from all parts of Russia, as well as from Japan, France, the USA, the UK, Italy, Estonia, Latvia, Finland and other countries.

Its specially-tailored judging system eliminated biliousness, and due to the fact a real battle of professionals took place on the stage. It was a bright show, for which masters usually prepare for years, mastering their techniques and inventing new images. A most keen jury, representing many countries of the world, was accessing works of the contestants, and names of the winners became known only on September 13, at the awards-giving ceremony. Trevor Mitchell, an honorary international hair-style judge, said in his interview, given to journalists before the final ceremony: “Nevskie Berega Beauty Competitions are the most beautiful and the biggest ones in the world. Show programmes at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Festival impressed visitors with their brilliance. Natalia Kondratieva’s salon-studio gave a demonstration of Maria Fure’s show-collection, named “Blesk” (“Glitter”), while graduates of Stella European Centre, headed by Yelena Kapranova, displayed their show-programme, called “Posviascheniye” (“Dedication”), and Nikolai Isak, a     couturier, stylist, hairdresser, and visagiste from Yakutsk, presented his new show-programme “Severnoye Siyaniye” (“Northern Lights”).

The event was given a broad coverage by the mass media, many leading journalists of different periodicals visited the Festival, and hundreds of photo and video correspondents were working at the event as well. One could watch live broadcasts in the internet on sights www.ligaspb.ru and www.beautycup.info both from the main venue of the Championship and from exhibition frames, as well as from conference halls, from the SPA-Masage Championship venue, and from Foot-Profi Cup Contest venue.

On February 19-23, 2010, St Petersburg SCC will see its guests at Nevskiye Berega International Beauty Expo, this wonderful festival of beauty, again.
